Teams Direct Routing
Real Phone Numbers in Microsoft Teams
Voice Calling for Microsoft Teams with Direct Routing
Direct Routing connects Microsoft Teams to the public phone network through a Session Border Controller and a SIP trunk, so your people make and take calls on real phone numbers inside Teams. Ahoy Telecom provides both: the Session Border Controller, hosted in our own cloud, and the SIP trunk, on our own network.
As an FCC registered carrier running our own redundant switching facilities, we control the path your calls take, for consistent voice quality and reliability. With features like Fraud Protection, Fail-Over Routing, and Disaster Recovery you can trust your business is protected with Ahoy Telecom.
How Teams Direct Routing Works
Teams Direct Routing is one of two ways Microsoft lets you use Teams as a phone system. Instead of a Microsoft Calling Plan, you connect Teams to your own SIP provider and keep your existing phone numbers. Two pieces do the work: a Session Border Controller (SBC), the secure gateway between Teams and the public phone network, and the SIP trunk that carries the calls.
A Cloud-Hosted SBC, No Hardware on Site
We host the SBC in our own cloud infrastructure, so there is no on-premises equipment to buy or maintain. It can connect to Teams alone, or to Teams and your existing IP PBX at the same time, so you can move people across at your own pace.
Pricing
Teams Direct Routing starts at $20 per line, including unlimited calls to and from the continental US.
What You Need to Get Started
Each Teams user who needs a phone number needs a Microsoft Teams Phone license. It is included in some Microsoft 365 plans and available as an add-on to others, so tell us which plans you have and we will confirm before you order. A trained in-house IT professional can typically configure Teams for Direct Routing, and Ahoy Telecom will guide you every step of the way.
Your Numbers Come With You
Porting local and toll-free numbers to our network is free, and we run the port and the cutover with you.
Make and receive calls inside Microsoft Teams, on the network of an FCC registered carrier.
Tell us how many Teams users need phone numbers and which numbers you want to keep, and we will quote it and walk you through setup.
Why Direct Routing
Direct Routing keeps your phone numbers and your calling features, including call queues, voicemail and auto attendants, inside the Teams interface your people already use. One SIP provider carries every call, on one bill, over a network we operate ourselves.
